The hearing for Jeff Norton scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8:30 am was reportedly cancelled. I am on hold with the state attorney’s office right now trying to verify this as I type. An update will be posted as soon as I find anything out. The state attorney’s secretary is away from her desk .

The senseless murder of beloved actor Jeff Norton has brought the Tampa Bay area theatre community even closer together in grief. Now it’s time to share the joy of life Jeff exuded from every pore of his being. The Norton Awards were established to honor his memory and the extraordinary expanse of his talent while continuing Jeff’s tradition of supporting the next generation of actors. Please support this tribute to Jeff.

If digital files are not available, Keith can make them from hard copies. He also made the video presentation at the memorial so you know the finish product will be a visual treat for the eyes. Sharing with us the most non discriminating, non judgemental mind I’ve encountered. Working as a Chimney Sweep in the rain in wintertime Seattle and teaching stage combat at the U of Washington at the same time, and never complaining about it. Acts of kindness towards the disabled, the downtrodden about which he’d be embarassed for you to know. Giving you his last beer. And going out and paying for more beer. For you. Always there for his mom. Always. In the 37 years I worked for Jeff, no matter how zany offstage, never losing character onstage. (Believe me, I tried on more than one occasion)
Introducing the Norton Awards
Todd Olson, producing artistic director at American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, says the idea to honor local actors as well as Norton came about in August after a group of local artistic directors gathered for Norton’s memorial service.

He took my cat to the vet when no one else could. It makes me smile remembering his twinkling eyes as he explained he never ran the A/C in his truck but he made an exception for a 5 pound grey persian who started to pant. Sappho, ever a good judge of character, was smitten with him.
