The Story:
We are theatre alumni of the University of South Florida, who have banded together to create a theatre company called “Norton People”. This unification was sparked by the recent tragic loss of our beloved mentor Jeff Norton, an unspeakably talented teacher and friend. We are currently based in Los Angeles, however we have members all over the US.
For our debut show, “Mr. Kolpert” we have cast members from Los Angeles and Florida, and our director will be flying in from New Jersey. Everyone- the director, stage manager, cast, etc. is donating their talents, time and travel expenses in the spirit of creativity and to honor our lost friend. We need your help too.
The Impact:
From Indiegogo we are hoping, at the very least, to break even with our expenses on this project. If we surpass our goal, (fingers crossed) those contributions will be saved for the development of Norton People, ensuring a valuable foundation for future productions!
We also hope that this will be the first of many shows to come, sparking performances from our brethren in New York and Florida.
What We Need & What You Get:
Through collaborative effort, our “founding 5″ have been working hard to produce this show on a minimal budget. We believe that $5000 will be enough money to bring our show to life.
For our backers, we plan on offering rewards in the following tiers listed on the website. You may make a donation of as little as $10.00 or up to any amount you choose. Please consider helping out with the worthwhile project as we turn tragedy to triumph in Jeff’s memory.

The Play
Ralf and Sarah are bored. They decide to invite a couple of friends over for drinks and pizza, and to spice things up, Ralf pretends there’s a dead body in their trunk—the dead body of one of their colleagues at work. But maybe Ralf is not pretending after all…
Is this a bizarre party game for a bored middle class or does the trunk hold something much more sinister? With echoes of Joe Orton, Alan Ayckbourn and the menace of Hitchcock’s Rope, Mr. Kolpert smashes humour and horror against contemporary German theatre to create a thoroughly alarming black comedy.
The first production of Norton People, Mr. Kolpert is being performed as an homage to our beloved mentor, Jeff Norton. The victim of a senseless crime, Jeff was a gifted storyteller, performer and teacher, with an acute sense of the absurd. As a company, we will continue to strive for a level of expression and artistry Jeff would be proud of. In this inaugural production, we thought it appropriate to explore a play that investigates violence and its inherent absurdity. Some things in life make no sense. With this production, we hope to take a senseless act and create meaning…or in the least, make you laugh. Jeff would have liked that. …We’ll do our best.
